Surf Ratio

The rate at which a traffic exchange converts your surfing time into credits — for example, a 1:1 ratio means one page viewed earns one credit.

Definition

Surf ratios vary by membership level and by site — free members often earn at a lower ratio (like 2:1, viewing two pages per credit earned) while upgraded members earn faster, sometimes 1:1 or better.

Why it matters to marketers

The surf ratio directly determines how much of your time a credit actually costs. When comparing exchanges, factor in the ratio, not just the stated credit price — a site with a worse ratio can end up costing far more time per hit than one that looks less generous on the surface.
