Opt-in rate is calculated as email submissions divided by page visits. It's the primary health metric for a squeeze page, separate from what happens after the lead lands on your list.
Why it matters to marketers
Traffic-exchange and safelist visitors convert at lower opt-in rates than search or referral traffic because much of that traffic is other marketers surfing for credits, not people genuinely searching for a solution. Track opt-in rate by traffic source separately so you don't judge your squeeze page copy by numbers that are really a traffic-quality problem.
